How To Identify A Good Quality Sofa

!±8± How To Identify A Good Quality Sofa

THE FRAME

The best frames are solid, densely grained, knot-free hardwood (such as rock maple, oak, poplar, alder, ash, birch), which has been kiln-dried, a process which removes the moisture to help prevent warping, twisting, and cracking.

THE SPRINGS

The gold standard of sofa foundations has hand-tied springs. What this means is that a series of heavy-gauge metal coil springs is set into the seat of the sofa frame and tied into place by hand using waxed twine in a series of interlocking knots.

THE CUSHIONS

"The real secret to a sofa's comfort is not the springs, it's the cushions. the cushions must be fluffed up after each sitting to maintain their shape and appearance's series of springs, like a small Marshall unit, is encased inside a "box" of high-density foam.

THE UPHOLSTERY

The fabric upholstery on a sofa often represents a significant proportion of its price, which is why it's not worth putting an expensive fabric on an inferior frame (the average sofa requires 15 to 18 yards of fabric). The choice of fabric or leather can greatly influence cost, durability, and even how soft the cushions feel (depending on the fabric's breath ability) as well as, of course, appearance.

Corner or sectional or L shape sofa

A sectional sofa, with its multiple pieces and angles, can take up a lot of space but create many seating options for your family and friends. Contemporary sectional sofas are designed for the whole family in mind, with multiple pieces built to fit together for the most versatile use of space.

Garden white sofa in fabric

A fabric sofa is elegant, comfortable and practical. the fabric sofas are robust and made to stand the test of time (with wooden structure and seats in non-deformable fabric on a frame of steel springs), as well as being completely loose covered, to allow for easy cleaning. There are also many different types of sofas in all different fabrics from normal upholstered to the fine Italian leather.

Rattan sofa

rattan sofa is becoming popular and popular. it can last a lifetime with minimal care. Like fabric sofas, there are many different grades of leather. Premium leather sofas have premium price tags to match. Leather sofas are very easy to care for with occasional vacuuming and a wipe with a damp cloth. Twice a year your leather sofa should be treated with saddle soap.

Contemporary and traditional sofa

Sofa sets, a significant furniture piece, serve as beautiful enrichment to the interiors. They are designed in traditionally or contemporary Indian styles that are truly eye-catching. Intricately carved sofa sets are a major hit among the admirers of exquisite furniture and are a craze in the overseas export market.

Traditional and contemporary sofa are often adorned with fabrics or leather in elegant prints and finishes with solid wood legs. Being rare and luxurious, the silver stools are true old fashioned and real taste of noble & high status buyers. The sofa sets are perfect for the living rooms, family rooms or offices.

The sofa sets are available in both contemporary and traditional styles lending a touch of beauty and character to the homes. They are elegantly adorned with intricate carvings and patterns that blend in totally with functionality. The sofa sets are padded with cushions made of different fabric, designed to offer immense comfort while sitting. They are available in a huge range of styles and finish supplemented by appropriate smoothing and polishing.

Washable fabric sofa

Bedroom Furniture For Small Spaces

!±8± Bedroom Furniture For Small Spaces

It's not that difficult to purchase bedroom furniture for small spaces if you remember a few ground rules - for instance, when you are particularly limited for space, measurements become particularly important. After all, if you are furnishing your bedroom the first things you are going to have to consider is the place you are to sleep - i.e. your bed. You need to decide on whether you are going to buy a bed that takes up most of the bedroom or purchase a bed that is more in fitting with the size of the room. Another essential you are going to have to account for is the door. After that, everything else can be bought to fit around these two essentials. Preferably, when you are shopping for bedroom furniture for small spaces you need to choose something that complements the space you have rather than dominates it.

Naturally, if you have an unlimited budget, shopping for diminutive furniture would be a lot easier as you can fall back on custom-built pieces or shop at a bespoke furniture store. Apart from budget, the quality of the furniture will also come into your decision. If you are just beginning the process of furnishing a property and have little money to spend then you are going to be more limited in choice although there are ranges of furniture built on a small scale that would look quite delightful in a funky-type bedroom: these pieces can be bought online from Ikea whose range of bedroom furniture for small spaces at budget prices is legendary.

You might consider the option of having furniture that is fitted into your bedroom so that any space you do have is maximized and there are no unsightly nooks and crannies to detract from a stylish finish. Although fitted, there is a wide range of designs to choose from; each style is planned out before the pieces are ordered and is all then carefully fitted by experts to ensure no space is wasted. Apart from the obvious advantages such as each piece being fitted into its corresponding slot, fitted furniture does come with other advantages. When buying bedroom furniture for small spaces, you will notice how sliding doors on the wardrobe can maximize whatever space you have available. If those wardrobes are fitted you will notice that each style has carefully planned interior shelves, runners, hanging space and drawers that can usually accommodate all your necessary paraphernalia hidden from view.

You could, of course, go for a Japanese look, using a futon to sleep on [they are actually quite comfortable] and pick small modern pieces of furniture to complete the look. Again, Ikea online stock some really attractive high-gloss black cube-like drawers that would look absolutely great instead of a chest of drawers and can double up as a bedside table. Paint your walls white, cream, or ice-blue and then brighten up your room with cherry reds and high-gloss blacks to create a bright, warm and cheery touch that perfectly complements bedroom furniture for small spaces regardless of the style you choose.

Spouse Date Night - Ideas for Dating After Marriage

A Helpful Guide for both LDS Brides and Grooms, as well as Non LDS Brides and Grooms

You're married... now what? That is a funny question. In all the excitement of being engaged
and planning your wedding, you probably didn't give much thought to how your daily post-wedding life was going to be.

One thing that will make a lot of difference in your closeness as a married couple, especially the longer you've been married, is continuing to "date" each other.

Importance of Spouse Date Night

Elder Russell M. Nelson pointed out that "couples need private time to observe, to talk, and really listen to each other." Regular date night for couple's is a very important and helpful way for husbands and wives to continue building their relationship through shared experiences and pursuing common interests together.

The Three Keys to being consistent about regular date night are:
1. Making date night a priority. Many couples set a regular night, usually Friday or Saturday, as their "date night." Nothing else is allowed on that evening, which is reserved for date night only!
2. Planning ahead. If date night rolls around but you haven't planned a date, then you'll likely end up doing something boring. And if your date nights are consistently boring, they'll quickly disappear.
3. Brainstorming a list of affordable dates. Between school, starting a family, and other expenses you may not have extra cash for extravagant date nights. Remember that good dates don't have to cost a lot (or anything at all.)

Married LDS Date Night Ideas

Loft Beds and Dorm Decorating Tips

!±8± Loft Beds and Dorm Decorating Tips

The small size of the living area is the major issue for the dorm room decorator. When working with such a compact space, including pieces of furniture that double up in purpose and function increases the room's usable space. This way, you can use all the space of the room, from the floor (for storage) to the ceiling (for sleeping.) For example, you can pair a desk and a bed by using a loft bed. You can increase the storage space with a bunk bed. All these combinations offer tons of creative solutions for a smart student decorator.

A loft bed takes advantage of the room space under and above your bed. With a loft bed, you can use the space underneath to place a desk or even a futon; with a bunk bed, you get a roomy storage that can replace a chest of drawers. The available space can be used for useful shelves to house books, magazines or other items.

Loft and bunk bed units can be purchased in a store or built from scratch by a handy do-it-yourselfer. The space under the loft bed can be used in many ways. For example, you can arrange a secluded study area simply by adding an armchair, a bookcase and a lighting fixture. Bunk beds help save space doubling as storage, so you can get rid of your large chest of drawers. You can "find" some space in bunk chairs that can hold extra clothes, linens, and bedding. Additional options that increase storage under a loft or bunk bed include adjustable pole shelving and filing modules available at IKEA.

If you don't want your dorm look like military quarters choose a favorite color scheme and introduce small elements of color throughout the dorm space. You can visibly eliminate clutter by storing your belongings in bank boxes or baskets which you can decorate with matching fabric or wallpaper.

If you're feeling more adventurous, inject some color into the room with paint. Choose a statement shade and create a focal point by painting one wall. Alternatively, if you have a small room, make the available space appear larger by choosing softer shades that coordinate with the existing room décor. One of the easiest ways to make a dorm appear relaxed and inviting is with lighting. Choose your lights appropriately depending on whether you want a soft glow or a bright, light space.

To liven up your loft bed you can use washable slipcovers in bright colors and easy to wash fabrics such as cotton-polyester mix. You can buy a matching set of covers for the extra seating space under your loft bed. You can buy a great throw to decorate your loft bed in a novelty store such as Pier 1 or even on a flea market.

When designing your dorm space around a bunk or loft bed, remember that even on a budget it is possible to create a tidy and uncluttered room where everything has a suitable place. No matter if you will be sharing a dorm room with a relative or friend, you still can maximize creativity, minimize clutter and help to create a one-of-a-kind dorm décor.

Space Saving Ideas For Your Studio Apartment Or Small Flat

!±8± Space Saving Ideas For Your Studio Apartment Or Small Flat

Here are some options to consider that will offer more space, make your small studio look more spacious and provide more storage space.

If you are living in a studio flat there are several plausible solutions for you to consider, the most obvious option would be to fit a small bed and a small sofa into the room however, depending on the size of the room, this may not leave much space for other bedroom or living room furniture which in itself defeats the purpose of having a sofa in the first place. If you cannot socialise in the room comfortably then you are probably better simply having a bed in the room, push it against a wall and place pillows on the wall when visitors are around to give the impression of a sofa, the key is to choose furniture that is not obviously bedroom furniture, get rid of all teddies and bedroom paraphernalia, keep the bed linen very simple and when guests are visiting throw a heavy weight throw over the bed and scatter pillows on it to give the impression that it is a seat. There are several bed frames on the market that are a divan/day bed style with support on the back and sides of the bed, making it look similar to a sofa than a place to sleep.

This idea of having a smart bed double as a seating area is also a good idea for students living in student accommodation where you have one room for yourself, another option for students is buying a sofa bed or futon, the advantage being that if you do want people around then you can fold it back up to give you more space. Again, a sofa bed can be a good option for a studio apartment for its functionality but it may not be the comfiest of beds in the world.

If you have bought a studio flat, or if your bedroom is particularly small, it may be wise to do something more drastic not only to give you more space but doing so may increase the value of the property. A mezzanine is a very clever way of getting more storage space for a small bedroom and can create a whole new area for living space. A mezzanine is an intermediate floor constructed between the main floors of a building, in a single room, how much room a mezzanine can give you is entirely dependant upon the height on the ceilings, the most common practise is to place a mattress and sleeping area up on the "second" floor providing you with a new bedroom with an alcove area that can be used for wardrobes or cupboards. However, how well a mezzanine works is entirely dependant upon the size of the existing room and getting a good architect, and if anything just raising your bed to chest height will give you enough extra space to put in some high quality storage.

If your bedroom is still too small for this then another option is a Murphy's pull down bed; a bed that is usually hidden vertically inside a cupboard but can then be pulled down into a horizontal position for sleeping. The benefit of this obviously being that when the bed is hidden away, duvet and all, the bedroom can transform into a living area giving you the best of both worlds. Murphy's beds are most suited placed in a cupboard unit that stretches an entire wall so you can have the bed and wardrobes on either side, so that when vertical there is no hint of a bed at all.

If you can fit a bed into your room, and a sofa, but not really your clothes or your CD's then you can purchase a divan bed with drawers underneath, or as suggested above pay for a second floor to be built under which you can use for storage or if you simply cannot afford that invest in under bed storage from somewhere like IKEA who specialise in affordable space saving solutions.
